Separated from family by engineering careers that took them away from home right after college, Gail and her husband Steve lost touch not only with daily happenings, but also with the cherished life experiences that their families carried in their hearts. During the COVID-19 pandemic, with her family now departed, Gail began searching for memorabilia to rekindle those happier times from long ago.
What tangibles she and Steve did have were packed away in over 200 moving boxes from multiple job relocations. Internet searching became mind-numbing as the various sites became indistinguishable. There had to be a better way!
In Spring of 2023, Gail and Steve came across many items at the church's yard sale that were similar to their own "buried treasures." Not only that, people were also eagerly seeking them! With no relatives to receive their collections, Steve and Gail got an idea, "Maybe we can find a fun way to share with others the things we have loved but no longer need!"
Today, the Tutts are nearing retirement. After many years of crafting with beads, collecting uniquely practical treasures, and inheriting loved ones' cherished collections, Gail and her husband decided it was time to pass along these beloved items to others for new and joyful repurposing. And so, Tutt Uncommon Treasures LLC was born.
People hear the name "Tutt" and invariably ask, "Are you related to the King?" of course, referring to the historic King Tutankhamun of Ancient Egypt. Our response: "No, but we wish we had the inheritance!"
Tutt Uncommon Treasures (TUT) is an obvious play on the name of King Tut. It also ties in nicely with our beloved treasures which will live on, not buried in pyramid chambers, but with our customers, in new and exciting ways!
The shopping experience of a nostalgic treasure hunt brings together Gail's vision of a society that reveres its past connections to family and community by carrying on time-honored traditions while creating new ones for future generations. Humankind's success is manifested in adapting the "old" so as to move forward in fresh and improved ways. Experience the spark of enlightenment through creativity and the propagation of cherished stories.
